Mieke Verguts (°1981) graduated in 2005 with distinction with a Master in Law from the University of Leuven. As part of the Erasmus program, she spent half a year at the University of Poitiers in France in 2004-2005. In 2005-2006, she attended a post-graduate degree in Multidisciplinary Forensic Research and an Advanced Master in Tax Law, as part of which she successfully participated in a pleading competition (European and International Tax Moot Court Competition).
After she completed, also with distinction, her Advanced Master in Tax Law, she started as a legal intern with Antaxius Lawyers, and became a member of the Antwerp Bar Association. During her studies, Mieke Verguts completed various legal internships, inter alia with Van den Heuvel & Du Mongh Lawyers in Antwerp. In 2007, she decided to continue her internship as a legal intern at this office.
Mieke Verguts has been employed at the law firm Van Den Heuvel & Du Mongh since 2009.
In 2009-2010, she completed a postgraduate degree in Fiscal Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law, organized by the VU Brussels and the University of Antwerp.
Since 2011, she also contributes to corporate law publications.
She has a preference for corporate law, as well as for family property law.
In 2011, she was a member of the board of the Flemish Conference of the Antwerp Bar Association.
In 2012, Mieke Verguts also became a member of the Turnhout Bar Association.
